![]() ChapterA Chapter by Esther Night“Jake! Jake!” a voice called out as he opened his eyes again. He was back in his tent he sat up and rubbed his eyes and saw Kate already dressed sitting in front of him. “Jake, get up” Jake rubbed his eyes “What?” Kate opened the tent, the sunlight felt like lasers shooting into his eyes. When Jake finally got dressed and packed up, the three started hiking though the forest. Jake couldn’t his dream off his mind. They walked through the woods all day quiet, Jake wasn’t sure if he should share his dream with Kate, she was always his best friend, the first person he would run to cry, and the first person he had always shared everything with. However he didn’t feel he even knew anyone now. That night they set up camp and went to sleep. Jake lay down quiet wonder if he would have a crazy dream again. But he couldn’t help his eye weight heavy, hiking though metal woods searching for evil computer cashes really tried him out. The slowly began to close his eyes, until he heard a scream. Before he could get his body move his tent flipped over. He heard howling, and felt the cold night air on his checks. He jerked his head meeting a red eyed robotic wolf. He wanted to scream but his lungs were to shaken to produce sound. He managed to get his body up and running. He just ran not knowing where he was running to. All he wanted to get away for the robotic pack of wolves, and just ran straight then he felt a hand jerk his arm towards the left, he turned and saw it was Kate with Karla running a few feet ahead. Jake felt he was running forever, sweat dripped form his face, his legs felt as the titman’s. Finally they came to a stop. Jake dropped on the sliver grass, not even caring how hard it was. He rolled over and slid his back against a metal tree. Kate and Karla were doing the same. Then Jake had realized him forgot his backpack, “Guys I forget my bag…is that bad?” Jake spoke softly. Kate laughed at him, he then notice she was carrying two backpacks. “I grabed yours too.” She said throwing it at him. Karla looked up at them “Sorry I screamed, I didn’t think these woods had wolves.” “It’s okay, I haven’t read anything about wolves, this forest is said just to have small robotic animals and insects.” Kate said. Jake looked up to the trees, he saw something bright red, he studied it more, he saw it wings were sliver. The more and more looked at it, he more he remembered the bug in his dream. “Kate are those the type of insects that live around here” he pointed out to her. Kate looked up and amazement started lighting up her face. “No, I think that a moss bugs, from the land of Thalia!” “Thalia?” Jake raised an eyebrow Kate smiled “Thalia was the Greek Muse of comedy and poetry and vegetation. I’ve read that its beautiful, blue skies, green grass, and laughter in the air and I heard when your there you can only speak in rhymes.” Jake’s mouth dropped, he remembered the place of his dream. “You seem very smart,” Karla said Jake laughed “Kate has always been smart, especially when it comes to mythic stuff.” Kate smiled, “I can’t explain it but I always felt so draw to the land of Thalia.” “It sounds beautiful like a dream world” Jake said. “It dose I’ve dreamed about it many times, but it’s also is so strange there’s a lot things that haven’t been explain, like its central city Shepherd, though it’s a bright, beautiful land, it has a sense of darkness, they call it the City of Secrets.” Jake was fascinated with Kate’s info but one question filled his head. Karla got up “I’m going to check if they are still around” she walked off. Jake couldn’t hold it in anymore “Kate when did you learn all this? During this whole time you have never questioned anything or seemed confuse?” Kate’s sad brown eyes look directly into Jake’s “I guess your deserve the truth, it was when we were about ten, I couldn’t sleep one night, so was going to the living room but on the way “When are you planning to activate them?” my dad asked. An unknown voice replied “Though she is very precious, I don’t think now is the time, I don’t want to put the pressure of knowing the truth on those kids shoulders.” “Then whose going to do it?” my mom asked. “I have plenty of other agents.” “But you said their powers, would finally end it all.” Activate? , Truth? Powers? I thought that overwhelmed me, my head was spinning.” She took a breath “ I wasn’t paying attention and I fell through the door. I fell on my back, and I saw my parents turn around and gasped. I asked “what me being activated means?” My dad sprayed something and everything went black. I woke up in this strange hospital type room, a strange man was standing beside my bed he was strange, but friendly. I was about to scream then he said “its okay Kate I’m not going to hurt you! My name is Evan, Evan Noon.” Jake’s eyes widen, “you met Evan seven years ago?” Kate nodded then went on “My parents walked in, my mom sat on my bed, and they told me” “Told you what?” Jake interrupted. “They told me that I wasn’t their real daughter. That in my whole life, I was being trained and tested on to be I secret agent. Of course I started asking questions. “Who are my real parents?” Evan turned and nodded to my parents then looked to me “I wish I could tell you, but I don’t know honest. You were just a baby in the sand.” He paused, “I brought you here to make sure you were healthy, and while running some test, we found something about was special about you. I thought a dusty busy office wasn’t a place to raise a baby. You know you’re a very smart, been tested at the genius level. You will make a great agent” “Did he tell about this mission?” Jake interrupted again. Kate nodded, “He told me, he thought that we were the chosen ones, he felt for some reason we were going to defeat N.I.G.H.T.” “Why didn’t you tell me?” Jake interrupted again. “Even said it wasn’t the right time, we weren’t ready to go on the mission. He wants us to live happy normal lives as long as possible, and he was scared that…” Karla walked in, “Okay I don’t see them, and I found an area where we can set up camp.” Kate never finished that sentence, and Jake was afraid to ask. He looked up at that the tent trying to wrap his around her words. He closed his eyes; he knew he needed his rest. The next time he opened his eyes, felt a burning sun roasting his body, sand was blowing all around him he heard crying, he looked down and saw two babies warped in white sheets. He heard screaming form a far. Then there was a man, covered in all black running to the babies.
