Winter's Chill

Winter's Chill

A Poem by Esther Lynn
"

Was a bit inspired by a long wintry drive this afternoon.

"

Naked branches stretch across a bleak sky, reminding me of your thin spine
And outstretched fingers

My breath lingers in the air, just as your words seem to linger in my mind
In my memory

Snow blankets the cold barren ground
Just as your arms covered my tired soul
My weary frame

The wind’s chill sends shivers through my body, reminding me of your touch
Your gentleness

I see you in winter,
Because that’s when
You left
