Sonnet

A Poem by Stephen Rodriguez, PhD
"

Written recently: imitation of old school sonnet structure

"
in these lost moments, devoid of glory,
I look forward to morning, an awakening of light.
solititude, the norm, breaks me short of new story.
New sun soon to burn brightly.

eternal darkness, is this our fate?
or dost reunification resurrect us?
I pray the Lord awaits at the gate;
a simple solution? I take your guess.

the roar and the hum of this place,
far from devestation we have seen.
we are blessed, enlightened by grace,
full of love now, what is--what has been.

and so to all I love, take quiet heed.
for your life blossoms, in word, indeed.

Sonnet structure is interesting because it's so demanding. You did a great job staying pretty true to the form but also keeping consistency with your imagery. Those first two lines are just so sharp and universal they draw the reader in. Well done.
