Self - Assessment (2015)

A Story by Kyran Asher Grey
"

A rudimentary description of what consisted of me when I was seventeen. An assignment that was written for English IV.

"

The truth about me is that I am not the average teenage student, if there even is one.  My name is Kyran Asher Grey, I’m seventeen, I have Asperger’s Syndrome, and I am an easy-going individual with an open-mind. If I had to describe myself in four words, they are: Dimensional, Dark, Compassionate, and Caring.

In this class I am the impeccable version of myself from two years ago. I am still paradoxical when it comes to being spontaneous, and simplistic. I try to add a shy mix of immaturity when appropriate, because there is nothing more infuriating that a “No Flex Zone”. And what I mean by that is I have to use my mouth and my brain to bring something unique to the environment. I am the type of person to adjust myself to the teacher’s mood. For example, if it’s dead serious, I am silent as night, I do not want shots fired at me from the teacher.

The question that follows “Are you different outside of this class?” by psychological standpoint, the answer is indefinitely yes. In terms of psychology by behavioral stance, we are all fake. Meaning that I do not act the same to every individual, or group of people that I meet. In another place, I might be unimaginably talkative, and somewhere else I might be worrisomely quiet. It all depends on my surroundings, and who’s around me.

To me my strengths and weaknesses are important, because where I am weak gives me somewhere to improve or grow on. Making my strengths’ perfection, but perfection itself is weakness. So you figure that out. I would like to say my strengths are: Open-Mindedness, Silver Tongue, Patience, and Multiple Perceptions. My weaknesses… well, let that be a mystery to you my dear reader.

My past experiences in English were by far phenomenal. I learned a lot from my sophomore teacher. From her I truly developed my sixth sense for poetry, and was determined to strengthen it tenfold. From my junior year English teacher, she taught me the importance of confidence, grammar, and vocabulary. Without her, I would have never of been able to partake in the Poetry Out Loud competition. I would also like to thank my Intensive Reading teachers for their part in molding my mind into the complexity it is today.

And now onto the most interesting part of this whole assignment. The topic of me. Although I would have to say that sounds really narcissistic. And that was unintentional. But I suppose it might as well be, because this whole assignment is narcissistic. Considering it’s all about the student. Anyways, I would say that I, as a student, am absolutely wonderful. I’d be lying if I said I was always so upbeat. As the typical human being, I share everyone’s handful when it comes to ‘blessed days’, and ‘sinful days’. Most days I adore everyone, other days, as my English teacher would say, “I’m going to rip your face off.” But when I’m happy, I can be considered ‘Turnt Up’ as the kids are saying nowadays. Although when I’m angry, it’s hard for me to hide my feelings, as soon as I walk into the room, everyone knows it. I don’t flip desks or anything like that (even though I want to).

Now, when it comes to my determination as a student, I can be passionate about some things, and I can become provocatively procrastinate about others. But I can be unimaginable driven when it comes to things such as: playing video games, writing poetry, working on my body in terms of physical fitness. But relating back to being happy in the workplace, I LOVE to increase the livelihood of the atmosphere. Like seriously, if no one is smiling, or making comical comments when appropriate, I’m all over that. I will not sit in a ‘No Flex Zone’ and be rustled.
