"How Long A Hero"

"How Long A Hero"

A Poem by Esoterrorca

"How Long A Hero"

I'm pleading to be the one
who's sought after for wisdom;
even after my shameless campaigns
I've never been anyone's number one.

I guess that made me the victim...

For how long a hero
get's a hero's refrain;
for how long can I be on a pedestal
when the energy to maintain hero status
zaps me into rashness?

How long a hero flies in the face of madness
before it make him want to crawl and hide?

How long a hero
when the entrapment of the web of success
leads him to places even a hero's mind can't survive?

How long a hero
when without being grounded
to withstand the notion of humility
the hero would rather fall
than have to climb and scrape his way back into your favor forgoing all modesty?

This is really good. Your description of "hero" is very relatable and your word choice is great. there is a great picture and theme in the poem that is not abandoned half way through.

In the second part, however, the hero is suddenly referred to as I, only to jump back to "the hero" later.

Good job. I hope to get to read writing again soon.
