The Cost of Friendship

The Cost of Friendship

A Poem by KayOss
"

What price are you willing to pay to be someone's friend?

"

Bitter lies, silent hearts.

Broken promises.

Silent, salty dreams.

Quiet, unattainable tears.

This is what you offered me.

A bright future.

Simple, unadulterated friendship.

A calm, patient ear.

The benefit of my wisdom.

This is what I offered you.

Even though this exchange

Is far from Fair.

Even though I get the shaft.

I would do it all again.

Just to be your friend.

The repetition of "dreams" in the first and third lines stuck out to me so you want to rethink that.

These lines are especially beautiful and its clear that even though things aren't always fair in this friendship that it is indeed still a friendship

"A bright future.
Simple, unadulterated friendship.
A calm, patient ear.
The benefit of my wisdom.
This is what I offered you.

Even though this exchange
Is far from Fair.
Even though I get the shaft.
I would do it all again.
Just to be your friend."
