Dumpster BrideA Poem by AndreaHonestly, this poem went in the opposite direction I wanted it to. I guess this is my conscious speaking.
I wore a white dress as I attended
your funeral service. Can't believe I spent so much money on a wedding veil. The vows were broken, now it's my hearts turn. I cleared my bookshelf for a place to stick your urn. This room gives me a sense that I am still unforgiven. a mattress clutters the floor and all your things are gone. To hide my sorrow I bite right through my tongue. Selfish whispers criticize and claim we were too young. Your romance so sweet I'd mistaken your love for sugar. I try to grasp it close and watch it slide right through my hands. I lick my fingers for a final taste of you. Thought we'd last forever but I forgot to say "I do". I wore a white dress and sat alone besides my sadness. In an alley where the trash and the lost hope seem to collect. I always dreamed of just how I'd spend this day. Now I pray the dreaded sound of bells would fade away. © 2012 AndreaAuthor's Note
