KoiA Poem by Andreathere is a time when we need to let go
I set up a mini paradise
in my dull suburban yard. Here tiki torches burn, and woven hammocks sway, and my little pebble fountain is graced by radiant koi fish. Five of them in total but my favorite one is Majesty. He is the friendliest of the Koi and swims up to me every time I sit next to the pond. He loves the bread crumbs that I feed him and when he hits the water with his tail I know that is his way of smiling back at me. But something in his eyes tell me My tiny darling is feeling trapped inside this little home I made. There is not enough room for a soul to feel free. I release all of the other Koi, but keep Majesty for myself. He will have more room to swim now and hopefully not feel so bound. Today I step outside with breadcrumbs in my hand and a smile on my face, but when I walk over to the pool I see my most cherished obsession floating belly up. © 2012 AndreaAuthor's Note
