Cinema

A Poem by Andrea
"

our reel lives

"
We watch the images flicker open the wall
and we fall in love
or fall in debt.

Portrayed before out eyes
is our real lives.
The men and women
we are meant to be.

Life is an adventure,
life is drama
life is romance,
violence
and sex,

and from time to time
we get the chance
to laugh at ourselves as
we pay ten dollars
to escape our bodies
and come back to reality.

Where love is forever the answer and
the good guy always wins
and yes, it will be another happy ending.

All the while
we tend to ignore
the soda and popcorn
sticking to the bottom of your feet
as we walk upon the road that leads us to
our cinematic thrills.

And we tend to find comfort
in these germ infested seats
that are there to hold us back
from jumping into the scene
and finding our way into the movie screen.

Nice imagery. Reminds me of our old cinema which was torn down and replaced with a multiplex. Not the same is it?
And drive ins. We never had drive ins here. I wanna go to a drive in now. Do they even still exist?
