Basement Walls

Basement Walls

A Poem by Andrea
"

stains and memories that never fade

"
The stains will forever haunt
my cluttered basement walls,
and their memories
will hinder inside the corners of my heart.

The ghost of you
chained to the faces
of every man I'll ever meet.

I see you in their eyes.
I have to bite my lip
so not to utter your name.

I can still feel you
holding me within your arms,
and when I close my eyes
I can recall the taste of your tongue.

I lost myself in you.
Before I had the chance to find my way out
you disappeared,
taking a part of me with you.

The stains on the basement walls are
so much like tears:
tears caused by smiles and laughter,

but tears, no matter how they come about
will always be tears,
and forever will haunt my basement walls.

I still think you need to go through the words here and take out about 20 percent of them....let you readers fill in the blanks. This write is good....but it borders on talking down to your readers.....just a thought.

Filled with emotion, each line echoing the pain of lost love. Nice job.
