Tomorrow Is Just A Night(mare) Away

Tomorrow Is Just A Night(mare) Away

A Poem by Andrea
"

The future is frightening

"
Tomorrow and the day after that
have gleaming red eyes,
staring down at you
as you try to sleep.

Hidden in the corner of your room
the future hides
waiting for it's chance to pounce.

You hear the clock rant at you:
tick
    tock
        tick
            tock.

Time slips by
so vigorously,
yet stands eternally
still.
You want to be stuck
in this very moment in time.
you want to appreciate it,
but you know that
tomorrow
is just a night(mare) away.

You clutch to the covers.
You can't fall asleep:
not yet.
To doze right now
is to waste your youth,
in a dream
you will not
remember
a year from now.

The clock continues to tick
and tock
and tomorrow
gives you
the stare of death.
And as time goes by
your skin prunes.
Your body ages.
You wanted to stay awake-
at least for right now.
Still you continue to notice
that the future
is still only a night(mare) away.

This is a wonderful written piece of writing. You are very, young. You are very talented and never, never ever stop writing. Listen to your heart. It will tell you what to write...

Keep up the good work.

Damn it, now I feel old. And tired. Thanks a lot.

Yeah. The future is but a nightmare away. And the older you get, the more you realise how youth truly is wasted on the youth. Mind you, I think even pensioners on skateboards would be annoying :-)
Great write. Can actually feel the tick tock rhythm to it. I'm gonna rebel and stay awake all night now :-D
