Hey Tennessee

Hey Tennessee

A Poem by Andrea
"

the one about the boy who left

"
Hey Tennessee,
It's really hard to feel
anything at all now
but I get hints of sorrow,
hints of loneliness
and the pain within my chest:
blisters on my lungs.
You make it so damn hard
to breathe
when you are not around.

I try to replace the emptiness
with another hand to hold,
another name to say,
another pointless f**k.
There is no substitution
to the messed up ways we lived,
the secrets we never kept,
the story on blank pages.

I miss you most now,
more than the day that you left
for another world,
maybe another girl?
for another state of mind.
When you say you love me
through thoughtless text
I believe every word of it.

I have given you the key
to my heart,
to my front door
now promise me
that until you come home
you will never, ever
misplace it.

Hey Tennessee
come reclaim your heart.
You left it up north
in Illinois.
Come reclaim
the girl who really
should be yours.

I think you should ask Tennessee.
You know it`s good, you are an
experienced writer and you have
all the senses of an accomplished
artist. You smell, taste, see and
now you hear, Its good go do more.
