Have You Thanked Your Skeleton Today?

Have You Thanked Your Skeleton Today?

A Poem by Andrea
"

We take for granite how very important our skeleton is to us.

"

The Maxilla and the Mandible came together

And then were pulled apart from one another once more.

They are best friends.

They're friends with you too.

They help you eat, they help you talk

They help you kiss, they hold your smile

Have you thanked your jawbones today?

The Cranium is the reason your eyeballs don't go missing.

It holds your brain in tight so you won't lose your mind.

So you can think, you can dream

And remember anything.

Have you thanked your skull today?

The Cervical Vertebra kissed the Coccyx

The Coccyx whispered to the Lumbar Vertebra

Who gave a warm hug to the Sacrum

And the Sacrum cuddled up to the lonely Thoracic Vertebra.

They are the ones who give you good posture

They give you strength when you need it

They are your backbone

Have you thanked them today?

The Patella tried to hide between

The Femur and the Tibia

Since it is so small

But it is the reason you can walk and run

Dance and kick

Sit and bend

Have you thanked your kneecap today?

It doesn't keep your hand attached to your wrist

Like the Scaphoid and Lunate do

It doesn't give your hand a nice shape

As do the Triquetral, Hamate and Capitate

It is the little bone sticking out of your hand

Right above your wrist

And has no real purpose

But is still there for you every day

Have you thanked your Pisiform today?

Please let me know what you think :)
(We had to write a poem about a body part in my Creative Writing class. half the class wrote about eyes, the other half hearts. I thought I'd be fun and write about skeletons)
