A Poem by Peter Green

wrapped up

by

i am wrapped up in her life

like vines around an oak tree

my life weaves in and out

without her I would coil to the ground

i am wrapped up in her life

my life was left behind

occasionally i see it in the rear view mirror

hot and dry and dusty

i am wrapped up in her life

she is my strength

i am her weakness

she drags me along like a sack of potatoes

i am wrapped up in her life

above our world she towers

in her shadow i scamper

my ground shudders as her foot drops

i am wrapped up in her life

as a pawn on a chess board

she moves me from square to square

careful not to sacrifice me - not yet

i am wrapped up in her life

my dreams of hopes and aspirations wiped clean by time

i drift in and out laughing and crying

now her reality steers me safe out of danger

i am wrapped up in her life

our love is deep

our love is respectful

the passion is misplaced

i am wrapped up in her life

she can read my thoughts

she can feel my pain

she knows what is best for me

i am wrapped up in her life

a life of black and white

a life of right and wrong

a life without just imagine or what if

i am wrapped up in her life

her life of independence and freedom

my life of 'a requiem for awareness'

our life of friday night television

i am wrapped up in her life

she protects me from failure chance humiliation

i protect her from

loneliness

i am wrapped up in her life

full of wants and desires and material things

without time to live the beauty

of our love gone cold

it's horrible, the feeling of being a burden to someone can make you feel extremely guilty, but sometimes you just can't help it.
then there's knowing that in that vulnerable position that you're in, they could make you do anything. they could use you.
and they always seem to know that.

well, that's what I have taken from this write, based on one of my relationships.

you explain someone's (or your own) thought process well.
