I still remember you (Love poem #6)

just a low effort love poem

I still remember you
 although our time was brief.

That summer of twenty-twenty-two
 then you snuck away like a thief.

You could see
 only half of me,
the other half I kept concealed.

Broken parts,
 a string of hearts,
  and places that haven’t healed.

I’ve seen you unclothed
 I’ve seen you unloved
  I’ve seen you dancing in the street.

What if I could hold you now?
 What if, what if, somehow;
  What if we never meet?

 

I suppose you have forgotten me,
 that’s probably for the best.
Just a shadow of a memory
 lodged somewhere inside your chest.

wishing everyone a happy holidays. this is just one of my cheeky love poems. i thought something fairly light would be fitting for the season.

there was no doubt disappointment, but i'm over it now. but i will say that letting my guard down again would be difficult

a very heartfelt poem...when love disappears it is painful...sometimes anger reveals itself, surely memories are going to be mixed between some sweet ones and some sorrowful ones...it definitely leaves scars....and shadows which will linger...

im not sure we'll ever get to see every scar on another person, but sometimes i recognise hurt even when it goes unspoken. i hope my next romance is one where we don't talk about the past and look forward instead.

well you may find it cheeky, the truth is something much more Ern. The universal theme is squarely fixed as to become your own. Rhythm is fantastic, dare I say hypnotic. And the diction dances that fine line between melancholy and treacle without ever once toeing over the edge, cascading down into the mundane.

thanks Ken. i guess its for me cheeky because my other writing is relatively heavier and less autobiographic. i wanted here to talk about a side of me i dont usually reveal - as romantic and sentimental as the next person. but im glad you could relate to it and even see something universal about this work. an episode of my life, something i dont look back on with much regret.
