Through the wind

Through the wind

A Poem by Ern M. Yoshimoto
"

an old work.

"
  Through the wind
through the wind that whispers through the gutter
through the wind that cut through the branches
there's a message

listen

Hope is heard in the still silence
Hope is seen in the bleakest tones
Form is found in the most incongruent lines
And hope is found in the heart of me,
cast your ears to the whispering breeze

Despite the terrors, inspire smiles
even though I haven't in a while
had the courage or will to smile.
Laughter is the key to the cellar
the children in the garden play, evermore

In Tohoku, the deserts of Yemen
each to their solace, their silent blessings
as the blizzard of the world
tears out their eyes
the wind, the wind
never subsides

nor will I yield without a fight
just strength enough left
for a final flight
goodbye!

through the wind, the wind
the treadmill spin
born again, alive again
through the wind.

Life takes us in different directions but we mustn’t loose hope.
We must court and ride on the obstacles and make the most of them.
Nobody said it would be easy
It’s a fascinating slice of history that makes one queasy and uneasy
Yet, pressing on is what we must do …to keep evolving.
This is a metaphoric masterpiece Ern.
Simple but powerful
I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The wind is a force, we can control it but when use as fuel.
This seems like a poem of constancy in all things. Interesting poem, Ern.

And you as well, Ern.
I like it as well. Nothing like wind whistling eerily through the gutters. I sometimes watch to see if it would peel off the bull nose from its moorings! Sheer, raw power and I am guessing a Dreamtime mystique about it.

This sounds like you channel in your writing when you find something you don’t recall writing years later:) I love that it happened to you it tells me that you do listen to the wind

These are the best jewels for a writer to find a older piece that becomes a mystery to even us.
Your poem is powerful and moves the reader.

I like this very much!! if you try you can have hope even though the winds make noise...silence is warm and comforting....and so is a gentle breeze....even you cannot laugh, smile through your tears....and do not be afraid of the wind, just listen....and be free....lovely

How does it feel to be able to give yourself and others a message from the future 10 years ago?
I don't know if you believe in universe messages, but I think people find meaning in everything when they are most hopeful but claim to be hopeless; that's how the first part felt to me. Let's listen to the message

And I will hang the second part as a post-it in my room
"Hope is seen in the bleakest tones
And hope is found in the heart of me"
Hope is with us. Hope never disappears, it just hides very well sometimes and we don't have the energy to look for it. Sometimes we have lost that childish spirit that would just play hide and seek.

"the children in the garden play, evermore"
And now when we decide to play a game, of course we will find that hope, or we won't find it, and it will suddenly appear saying that it won the game. But the only winners will be the children who played the game.

"Despite the terrors, inspire smiles
even though I haven't in a while
had the courage or will to smile."

Hey everyone, listen to the words from a teacher!!
This is hope. This is life. This is love. It's knowing that you will be important to someone else even if you can't find that strength in yourself. You knew that 10 years ago.

"nor will I yield without a fight
just strength enough left
for a final flight
goodbye!"

every farewell is a new beginning and we will always say goodbye to many things. I'm proud of your courage.
I'm proud of your purpose.
I'm proud of your speaking, of not staying silent.

this was a poem by a real teacher, a real person, a person with light in their heart.
I'll come back here and read it from time to time.
thanks for sharing.
