Did you laugh today? (Love poem#2)

Did you laugh today?
did you give the sky a wave?
did you watch the sunset
 with a child-like gaze?

Did you see your friends
and did they say:
 what are your dreams,
 and what are your regrets?

 

It all just seems
these days will never end.

So be kind, be loving.

I don’t have a lot,
 but I’m alive
  and that’s not nothing.

Sometimes something you read hits right where you live. Someone who loved me isn't asking me these questions anymore...and I miss it so.

Your poem evoked that sense of loss in the often overlooked importance - vital importance of checking in on the ones we love and giving them what we have to give... It's not about us. That's love and you are so right - "that's not nothing."

thanks Joli. im glad my words reached you. this work was a kind of drama where one person says to the other something they need to hear. listening, really listening, is an act of love. and i dont believe many people in the world today make time for such conversations. it's a shame. but hopefully something will change.

This could be a love poem to the self. A reminder that even simple or everyday things are significant. Waking up daily in itself is a gift. In the darker times it is easy to love sight of that and even reminders don’t always reach the heart but encountering the thought poetically reaches the mind in a different way.

As a love poem it’s almost like an ode to valuing one’s mental health and working each day to surround the self with things that build up and remind us of our own value. Lovers should be friends first and carers at all times. Love is more than romance. And your poem illuminates these things in meaningful ways. Lovely message here.

what an imaginative interpretation! yes, that's exactly right. we say 'i love you' but we never say 'i care about your needs' which should be te case. the persona here is saying, not only do i love you i want to be here for you and take care of your soul.

Kindness is always the key in life, but so many lack this aspect in life. Sad world, according to Coyote poetry, our world to fast paced.

Morning Ern, seems none of us appreciate what we have choosing instead to gripe and moan about all that we wish we had. Illness and death of loved ones usually put that into perspective:)
