A Poem by Ern M. Yoshimoto
"

Written while in the ICU. I was given permission to leave for a few hours, and I took a train to the coast.

"
what a treat!
what a feast
for the feet;
the wind blowing
from the East

Should we head
for the coast
now,
or wait
for all the grey
clouds to
dissipate?

yeah.
you might wanna
feel the breeze
in your hair.
And,
clasp some of
that
golden sand
they call silence

Silver words
escape your lips;
One hand resting
on your hip

Cast your wet eyes
to them distant ships:
"Love" and "Pain"
make a beautiful alliance.

this reminds me of being in Salem, Mass.
I was at the oldest park in the states....and it was right off the coast. There was this house, two-story, and a roof that was used as a balcony and the wives would wait up there watching for the fishing boats to come in with their husbands.
I Am reminded of that...and quite enjoy the atmosphere you created that we can actually feel as palpable.

A very emotive writer eloquently inked. When the wind from the East blows in Ireland, it is called "The Beast from The East" because it leaves a trail of damage in its wake. The silence on a deserted beach is food for one's mind and spirit. It is far from silent, it speaks a unique language that our soul understands. It refreshes us and we leave it feeling renewed and ready to take on the world again. Love and pain can be linked together as opposites and I love how you say they make a beautiful alliance though I could never link them together. A flawlessly executed poem, dear Ern M. I enjoyed reading and I thank you for sharing. Lovely work...

thank you :)
This poem with use of colloquial language that gives it salted flavor. It speaks poetically with unexpected images that fit well into the emotive sensation of the piece. It carries with it a cultural feel for passion and love that is more eastern and a softness that is alluring and seductive. Lovely
