Where Has She Gone Now?

Where Has She Gone Now?

A Poem by ~Wandering Soul~
"

someone i knew fell to their death along the rocks of a local beach..........she fell 50 metres and lay dying there......she died just before the helicopter got to her......R.I.P - Donnica Clarke

"

That beautiful glowing radiant smile
Always the optimist, showing us what is great
I want to tell you the impact you had on me
But I fear it is much too late

Nearly everyone will tell me life is unfair
But no one told me death is even more unjust
Death looks down on us picking out our best
Death looked down on you with a sudden needless lust

Until the day I die, others and I will ask why
Why you took the shortcut that brought your end
Why you had to slip 50 meters to your death
Will our minds even be able to mend

Your broken body is like our hearts
Shattered, splintered, painful and hollow
I think of the pain your friend endured in seeing you
I think of your ended life and feel only sorrow

I condemn myself for not knowing you better
I cannot forget what memories there are
It is hard to say how I wish you were here
Impossible, surrender to truth, you are now so far

This stabbing pain I feel inside I know is real
It reminds me constantly that you are gone
And I never once said goodbye. I will miss you
Regret, you are now lost, and that is so wrong

Painful memories it brings back when someone is lost. I can relate to this and understand the sorrow behind it. Very well expressed Rachel....thankyou.

Losing someone hurts. Unless you know the feeling, it's hard to understand. Thank you for sharing this with me.

Thanks for sharing, Rachel. It is always sad to lose someone, no matter how slim our acquaintance -- particularly if it is someone we wish we had known better. You capture the bewilderment especially well. Lovely write.

This reminds me of living near cliffs where there is a renown suicide spot. I know your poem is about a slip and fall but I was thinking of the feeling of just being left to die - alone with everyone saying 'where has she gone?'
Also the loss, feeling of regret for someone and the stabbing pain in the heart is very real no matter how well you know that person.
OK, whilst I did'nt read in quite the way you may of expected, I did take a lot from this and felt it was a good read. Thanks.
