Lost Understanding

Lost Understanding

A Poem by ~Wandering Soul~
"

what you might be feeling when your depressed or really stressed and everything just build u and when u think your getting out of it or getting on top of it it all builds up again and your back at the start

"

Am I really that unhappy
Or is it just a pretence
These tears that I see fall
Do not make any sense

The mix of raw emotions
Just mingle with the past
What I thought was happiness
Just doesn’t seem to last

Is this really freedom
Or is this what binds me
This feeling that I’m trapped
And just can’t find the key

This swirling through my mind
It never seems to rest
Pain, joy, sorrow, delight
Lay heavily on my chest

The escape is always visible
Yet always further away
Attempts to find reason
Seem more futile every day

I usually don't enjoy poetry with simple rhyming like this, unless they are lyrics, but I really do like this. The first line, "Am I really that unhappy", gives the tone, the curiously pondered thoughts of your own thoughts. In my recent experience, they are possible to control. Just practice being happy, happy for no reason at all, because there isn't much reason behind anything, depression included. That doesn't mean you shouldn't feel sad, but I've found that keeping it to a minimum is helpful. Thanks for entering my contest!

Any poem that mentions 'swirling' gets good marks from me. I can see many who will see this as a poem written for them. Really easy to read, understand and impactful.
Possibly you could remove a few words in places to make it appear more ethereal although it is pretty much perfect as it is.
Also, please re-read your poem description as it is very confusing and might put readers off!
Neat work
