why we read

why we read

just why i like to read

Would you believe this all started by someone mentioning Edward Cullen?

Judging by many peoples reaction to the poorly glittering vampire, not surprising I suppose.
The point is, it brought forward the reason for reading, and reading particular genre's.

After someone noted their views on the most loved and loathed fictional character of the twilight series, they added that yes, he is not real.
I would not argue that. Nor would I wish it any other way, even as a fan of the series myself.
Why would I want this perfect image of that world my mind created, destroyed, by a real Edward.

Same goes for all of the fiction I read.
I can create it however I want it to seem in my own mind, It is unique to me and me alone, no other person will see it the same way I will. Why would anyone want to crash down the images your mind creates, so it appears to you the same as everyone else.

Who wants to see things the same way?

Personally.....I like to take my own view on it.....and I like to know that I can see things a certain way, without someone elses reality crashing away the novelty of it.

I read fiction to escape reality.......I can't actually escape it, so why not let my mind wander in a world that it created itself....

Why would I want my fictional escapes from reality....to be reality......

Well, I must say, I read because other's people's writing styles always give me an idea that there is another way. See, I'm much more obsessed with writing then I am reading, which is probably wrong but.
Well, I also read for the reason you said, to see images in my head, created from the words in the way only I can create them. Then I read, because its fun, quiet, relaxing. You can take your won time, keep up with no one's pace but your own.
I almost neglected to review your story!
I hate Edward Cullen, and the way people fawn over him. I never read Twilight, or anything else in the series, because after reading the first chapter, I hated the writing style. So I really like that you mention he not only the most loved but also the most loathed character, because that he is.
You ask a very important question. why do we read? Why do we care? I don't know. But good jobe trying to answer it.
