in a noiseless roomA Story by Erinfor my creative writing assignment we had to sit in complete silence and write what we heardThe light scratch of perfectly sharpened pencils skitter off freshly blank pages. The gentle sigh of frustrated writers fill the air. Pages are rustled in agony. Chairs make a slow creak as bodies shift. There always seems to be at least one set of fingers cracking, striving for attention. Desks shuffle across the carpets from the room next door. Small whispers grow into loud conversations, building higher for everyone to hear. © 2011 Erin |
