The orange 🍊

The orange 🍊

A Poem by e
"

Just two people sharing a nice little orange for lunch..

"
I brought in an orange for lunch
I’m glad I can provide for you
I know it’s the only thing you’ll eat this morning
the ring of the bell is my cue,
I take out the plump porous fruit and juice squirts all over my knuckle.
The smells of the citrus rinds fills the room but bitterness made us both chuckle
They say oranges are good for sight
And I may have to agree
Because when we shared that sweet zesty nectar, All I could see was your beauty.
Something so small as an orange.
Can hold so much simplicity.
I hope you never stop liking oranges.
So our love can last for infinity.

This is nice. It felt like a discovery of how to connect with someone with whom connections are fleeting.

I don't think I've ever shared an orange with someone. A satsuma, yes, but not an orange.
I shall put that right as soon as possible. Maybe I had an orange related incident when young. I do know that it stings like flip when it squirts in your eye, so maybe that explains my lack of fruit sharing memories with this particular fruit.
If it backfires and she looks disdainful at me, in a "are you saying I look fat?" way, I won't blame you, honest.. It will just be another reason to dislike oranges! 😊

How endearing in sentiment, that bright orange fruit not just healthy, nutrition but symbolic of mutual love, respect and admiration, delighfully penned!

I like the simplicity of this poem. Such a nice thing to do, to share the segments out with all all that vitamin C in the flesh. Yummy.
