A True Best FriendA Poem by Erin WinterA monument to my three wonderful best friends to stand in internet glory.
Everyone's got a different idea
Of what they ought to be. But take a moment and I'll show you What a best friend is to me. Starting with the oldest one I've known since second grade. My heart was broken right in two When first she moved away. But then years later, Found again! This dear one whose kindness Knows no end. I missed you Whether near or far. For you there'll always Be a place in my heart. As close to perfect as I've ever known Far too good for me in every way, My dear best friend, you show your worth In your attentions everyday. But on to best friend number two, It started in the most simple of things. But time wore on and now she's got My never-dying loyalty. So talented in so many ways So many things I can't explain. For all your attempts show me why From anime I must refrain. Bamboozling to the most extreme, Your not-logic has gotten me. (I have to say again!) But still to be or not to be! I still don't know! What sets me free? This girl, my second family? Absolutely, yes indeed! Now finally the last But certainly not the least, This precious friend Cannot be beat! By crazy wonderful bubbling you I'm encouraged to do what I never do. To step out of my comfort zone, Into my own social unknown. This sister that I never had Electric joyful beautiful one! Your talent has Only just begun! So there it is My precious ones. But I feel like I've only just begun To show why they deserve my love. And altogether wholly unique, It was God alone Who could have Brought them to me. © 2014 Erin WinterAuthor's Note
