BanquetA Poem by Erin LeighExperimented with a split style and the short prompt for banquetI would like to cordially invite you to dinner. Goblets filled with putrid blood, Soup of bile and teeth, What a scrumptious meal for such a sinner. I must remind you, that it is formal. Soufflé strung with hair and dusted with skin, Salad dressed in mercury, There is pepper, if you’d like. I request that you do not invite another, for this is a private event. The main course is simply exquisite, for it is your revolting, shriveled heart. Guests are served first, of course. I await your arrival with ambrosial anticipation. © 2014 Erin Leigh |
