Nostalgia

Nostalgia

A Poem by Erin Kateri
"

on the desire to live in past, forgetting it's not any better than the present

"
Memories
play black like a silent film,
white noise, dramatic music,
few conversations brought to the captions

And we watch,
and we yearn
for a time when life was simpler,
a time when life was good.

And we want to go back,
want to live that time again,
want to live that life over,

And you can recreate that moment,
not really
but you can try.
It will never be as good as that first time.

Better to watch from afar,
a silent movie in your mind,
better than it ever was
or ever could have been.
