Rose In The SidewalkA Poem by Erik DanielA poem about beauty in the most unlikely of places. It's funny how God shows up when you least expect him. Those moments when your hope is gone and everything seems so dim.
He appears in the most unlikely of places. He catches your eye like a beautiful smile in a sea of faces. Or a beautiful rose coming up through a crack in a sidewalk that has been there for ages. His fingerprints are everywhere. We would see them if we would just take the time to slow down and stop and stare. But anymore we simply just don't care. We get caught up in this world and no matter what we have we always want more. We hide ourselves behind our cellphones and our closed doors. We foolishly think that beauty is our outer appearance. We dress ourselves up and advertise our bodies as if them were on clearance. When did people stop seeing that true beauty in on the inside? When did we give up on morals and let them die? Is beauty not seen in this world daily!? Is it not heard in the first cries of a baby? Or seen in something so small and common as a daisy? We look for it all around us, but it is often found when it is most unexpected. And when you see it for the first time your whole view of it will be corrected. It is most abundant in the ugliest of places. Like a rose in a sidewalk that has been there for ages. © 2014 Erik DanielAuthor's Note
