The Martyr's Prayer

The Martyr's Prayer

A Poem by Erik Daniel
"

A prayer inspired by Stephen's prayer at his stoning.

"
Lord, can you see me now?
I am lying broken upon the ground.

I can not do this with my strength alone.
Please get me through this so I can come home.

I ask that you will not let them extinguish my flame,
And that my death, in some way, will bring glory to your name.

I pray that you will receive my spirit,
And when my time comes that I will be fearless.

Lord do not hold this sin against them.
Do not condemn these foolish men.

Forgive them for they know not what they do.
Prepare me a place; Lord, I'm coming to meet you.
