War and Rebirth

War and Rebirth

A Poem by Erica
"

The poem may be read a one single poem, or two seperate ones. The bold lines make up one poem, the itallics make up the other, and then combine them for the full effect.

"

Swords clanked as shields clashed.

A striking dance. A deadly match.

All around brains were bashed.

Bones broken. Bare skin scratched.

No guarantee of safe return.

Tears were shed. Homes were wrecked.

What’s that old saying? You live and you learn?

Disintegrated promises entangled with regret.

Live and learn, but what if they’re dead?

Violent hands. Vicious cries.

Things like that are better unsaid.

Poisonous gas. Stinging eyes.

Omit the truth from these last moments of life?

Friendly Lies. Back Stabbing Hands.

Lies will help burry the strife.

Dead bodies sinking. Absorbed by sand.

The sands of time real them in.

Breathe your last breath and your families will mourn.

They see a fresh start. Life is about to begin. . . Again?

Second chances and Men Reborn.
