"Share the Night"

"Share the Night"

A Poem by EricGodsil
"

I can promise you it is a little less enlightening than sponge bob square pants.

"
We will sing the songs together,
Streaming across our tube,
Dancing in my boxers,
A waltz across distance.

Sharing our souls,
Through the songs of others,
Words leap and bound,
Igniting the passion of the beast.

Charcoal images run through your head,
Fuel for the fire inside,
Burning in your spirit,
Escaping through your eyes.

Soaring into the heavens,
Creating constellations,
A celestial picture book,
Telling the stories of your heart.

So I may look into the sky,
Listening to the subtleties we share,
Melodies of the absent,
Linked together by our aspirations.

What I get from this is that it's a poem about the speaker and his muse/love and how they connect through music and what they want to become later in life. The fact I was able to get this easily even though the poem is fairly abstract shows your skills as a poet. There is a lovely dreaminess about it which encapsulates the whole idea of these people coming together through their minds and their love of music. This is a very pretty, ornate little piece. I relate to it - this is going in my library.

Very powerful. I loved, "Charcoal images run through your head, fuel for the fire inside, burning in your spirit, escaping through your eyes." It sent a chill down my spine and I enjoyed the fierce imagery you create in your poetry.
