I Do Not Love You

I Do Not Love You

A Poem by Adam Thompson
"

This poem is based around a rather tumultuous relationship I've had. It wasn't romantic, but sometimes it certainly felt like it.

"

Why did you leave me as I stood on the hill
Waiting to charge
Ready to kill

It's passion and fire you threw at my feet
But I cannot answer

Not to this

Not like that

I can't make my heart beat.

I stood at the podium, taking my stand.
But you just turned and walked off,
Refusing my hand.

So I sat, and I cried
Feeling duped and confused
Why had you left me
I fought for you

I put down my sword
I put down my shield
The judge shattered his gavel
On the back of my heel

I fell to the ground
into a heap
the world all around me
meant nothing to me.

I do not love you
but I certainly care.
A certain deep feeling that's uncommonly shared
And for someone to come close you must have been scared
BUT YOU HAVE TO REALIZE THERE'S A WORLD WAITING OUT THERE

Author's Note

Adam Thompson
There's a tune to this poem in my head, but since I don't know how to write music I will leave it as is for now. Also there is definitely more to this in my head somewhere, but I'll get to it later.

About
A poet that sometimes disguises himself as a writer. I am not new to poetry, it has been a creative outlet me since I was young. However I am new to proper criticism, but do not hold back because of .. more..
