Severed

Severed

A Poem by Elisa
"

A poem about losing a friend because of time.

"

Severed

The important in our lives

Are a part of our being.

I am at the head,

And many of you support me,

But there is something

That I have realized…

I could tell

Our friendship

Was different.

I supported and protected you;

You called me your

“Best Friend,”

But you weren’t

The same to me.

You replaced

The gaping hole

Unknowingly threatening me,

But you did not

Surpass the limitations

To form the bond I desired.

As we drift further apart,

The opposites we possessed

Have split once more

In impossibly numerous

Shards.

You were never

A part of me;

I created your essence,

Keeping you up

Until I severed myself from you.

I became your crutch.

I was near

If you needed me,

But I notice you do not

Anymore.

All of my writing is dark and I do not believe in writing "happy endings" because they sound pathetic to me. I also tend to make my writing gruesome, with death being a common factor. If you read th.. more..
