Innocence's BlissA Poem by ElisaI got the idea from something we were discussing in history class one day. The missing shoe thing was a common metaphor in paintings. I won't tell you what it means; you'll just have to figure it out.Innocence’s Bliss Mommy had to leave She left Daddy to care in her stead. He told me, “Mommy is with the birds.” He smiled and laughed, But would not let me. I stayed home; Letting the world go on Without me. Abandoned was I From friends, But not From Daddy; My daddy never left me. He stole my shoe That man" The one who Raised, Comforted, And Protected me! I was too young To understand, To want, Yet he took my dreams When the shoe left my foot And fell to the floor with a echoing THUD! I remember, before, When I had my shoe. I liked having it, But I cannot go back. My Daddy took my shoe. Stole it, Before I got the chance To even know That it was there. And now I know Why Mommy is not here. Daddy put her There. © 2013 Elisa |
