Innocence's Bliss

Innocence's Bliss

A Poem by Elisa
"

I got the idea from something we were discussing in history class one day. The missing shoe thing was a common metaphor in paintings. I won't tell you what it means; you'll just have to figure it out.

"

Innocence’s Bliss

Mommy had to leave

She left Daddy to care in her stead.

He told me,

“Mommy is with the birds.”

He smiled and laughed,

But would not let me.

I stayed home;

Letting the world go on

Without me.

Abandoned was I

From friends,

But not

From Daddy;

My daddy never left me.

He stole my shoe

That man"

The one who

Raised,

Comforted,

And Protected me!

I was too young

To understand,

To want,

Yet he took my dreams

When the shoe left my foot

And fell to the floor with a echoing

THUD!

I remember, before,

When I had my shoe.

I liked having it,

But I cannot go back.

My Daddy took my shoe.

Stole it,

Before I got the chance

To even know

That it was there.

And now I know

Why Mommy is not here.

Daddy put her

There.

All of my writing is dark and I do not believe in writing "happy endings" because they sound pathetic to me. I also tend to make my writing gruesome, with death being a common factor. If you read th.. more..
