The Toronto Blue Jays won their first series of the season after defeating the New York Yankees yesterday 3-1.
"It's a confidence booster," said Jay's manager, Charlie Montoyo, discussing what it means to take two games out of three from the Yankees. Vladmir Guerrero put the Jays up 1-0 with a solo home run at the top of the second inning. Later in the inning, Randal Grichuk hit a two run home to make it a 3-0 game. The Yankees got their lone run in the bottom of the fifth inning when Clint Frazier scored on a routine ground out. The Jay's pitching was the main reason for their success yesterday. Jay's starting pitcher, T.J. Zeuch had a good day on the mound. Zeuch went four innings, allowing three hits, no earned runs, a walk, and struck out a batter. T.J. Zeuch Julian Merryweather got his second save of the season. Yankee's pitcher, Dimingo German went three innings, allowing four hits, three earned runs, a walk, and struck out two batters. The Jays are in Texas today to take on the Rangers.
