Rumor Mill: Pacioretty Getting A Possible Extension

A column about the status of Montreal Canadien's captain, Max Pacioretty

The Max Pacioretty saga continues.

On May 28, I wrote an column about the Montreal Canadien's captain going to the Edmonton Oilers in a trade.

Now it seems that the Canadiens are thinking of giving Pacioretty a contract extension.

This makes more sense.

Trading Pacioretty to the Oilers probably won't benefit the two teams.

Edmonton doesn't really have a role in their lineup for Pacioretty and I don't think the Oilers want to trade another player from their roster.

There's speculation that Pacioretty is going to ask for a $7 million contract.

Are the Canadiens going to give Pacioretty a contract at that price?

Who knows.
