Patrick Marleau scores two goals in leaf's 7-4 win last night.


After a long Christmas break, the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Arizona Coyotes 7-4 last night.

Patrick Marleau was the star for the Leafs as he scored two goals in last night's game. 

Marleau finished the night with three points.

Zach Hyman got the ball rolling for Toronto as he scored a short-handed goal at 8:55 of the first period.

Auston Matthews pleased the crowd in his home state, (Arizona), by scoring a goal at 10:58.

Mitch Marner made it 3-0 Leafs at 11:25.

The Coyotes closed the gap to  3-2 with first period goals by Josh Archibald and Brendan Perlini.

In the second period, Marleau scored at 9:15 and 15:23.

William Nylander also score a goal for Toronto in the second period.

Jordan Martinook made it 6-3 at !8:33 of the second, (period).

At 14:07 of the third period, Christian Fischer scored on the power play to make it 6-4.

Connor Brown put the game on ice by scoring an empty netter at 17:30.

Marner finished the night with three points.

Leaf's goalie, Frederik Andersen stopped 34 shots.

Arizona's goalie, Scott Wedgewood stopped 32 shots last night.

The Leafs travel Colorado tonight to face the Avalanche.
