Cowrie II

Cowrie II

A Poem by Andrea Di Martino
"

companion to Cowrie I

"
Cowrie is silent on the floor,
Green eyes envious.
Johnny Cash curls against my ear,
Purring, kneading my shoulder,
Industriously seeking milk.
I am weary of need, accusation.
She, weary of excuses, sighs.
Not even born and already
There is nothing more to say,
Closed up tight within her shell
Which is my body.
