Chapter 121: Thunderstruck

He touched Percy’s skin and it begun melting off but just as he did it also gave him a barrage of jolts of electric energy and made him feel like he touched a power line inside the power box outside his home. He felt as if he were passing away right before his eyes. So he moved back and unstuck his hand from Percy’s threshold on him. He wasn’t aware of how current could be flowing in the absence of time but it was. He shook his arm and it went numb. He couldn’t get a grip on it so he shook his arm and around more and it limped. There wasn’t much he could do about it so he stayed fixed on the adversary ahead of him.

Percy was stationary in a position with his arms out ready to hit. Jamie was stalled pretty far behind him, Michael and Kyle much closer. Trevor was out of options, he had to formulate some plot to get even with him and pronto. He now looked like a psycho-bot about to terminate him. He was getting really angry and he needed to be able to touch him again. So he tried. He reached out his arm that was numb all the way through and caught him by the arm. His flesh started to peel off but he could feel the electrocution flashing through him once again. There he let it strip away but didn’t quite dismember him. He had to let go or else he was going to pass out in the middle of time-stop. He quickly ripped his arm off of him with his other arm, hanging loosely after he let go.

After the scrutiny that Nate received he couldn’t understand why Percy was being attacked other than a random act of madness plaguing him. He stored up energy and pounced on Percy ripping his arm to shreds but not separating it. He accidentally switched off time-stop and felt his arm going feelingless once more. He followed Percy’s back-steps and stopped and stood his ground where he was. Michael and Jamie were close on his heels and weren’t sure was going on with Percy’s arm damaged up like it was. Kyle was back there screaming and kneeling down on Nate’s body trying to revive him. It wasn’t the most beautiful scene around, in fact Trevor kind of wanted to throw up. He felt a shock through the core of his body and when he looked up Percy was standing, arms limp at his sides and you could see static coming off him.

Jamie looked tense and Michael was in a state of disbelief. There wasn’t much to explain why Trevor was holding onto his arm and trying to regain control of it. There he worked his way up to Percy and asked, “How about we get done with this situation and get back to having fun.” He just looked at Trevor, unsure of how he was bleeding from his arm and thought maybe he had some kind of trick up his sleeve. Percy was not budging and he momentarily reached out his arm and extended his hand facing upward. Trevor looked horrified at his hand as it dazzled with electrical energy and he began trying to force it out of himself. He was having trouble doing so, as if he weren’t very practiced at it. Trevor moved to the side and Percy’s hand moved right along with him. Suddenly his hand burst and a shock charge made its way toward Trevor. Trevor dived but was hit in the leg and magically was searing in pain. He couldn’t move and Percy was moving on to other targets.

The stale air made the area smell and dimly lit, it was more of a battleground than any Trevor had faced before. He was holding his knee trying to get himself balanced to stand again. He launched a blast at Jamie and it sputtered off to Michael as well, but Jamie blocked it with a huge human shield made of energy. He couldn’t have witnessed a more awesome sight. It was something you could only read about and he held it there until Percy was apparently out of juice. Trevor was getting the feeling back in his arm and leg. It was a funny feeling, the opposite leg and arm being out of commission. He tried healing himself. It wasn’t taking the feeling away but he was getting use of them back to him. Jamie took another hit to his shield and the rest dazzled onto the street causing it to go dead on impact. Percy was flinging electricity around like nobodies’ business and the road seemed to emit no charge for it to bounce off of. So that was something, Trevor couldn’t maneuver what that would do to help him but he was racking his brain trying to come up with something. “What happened to my arm?” Percy shouted as he continued his rampage across the road. Trevor didn’t have the gall to actually answer him. He hesitated then stood up and stood next to Jamie, behind him a bit. “We have to stop him.” Trevor mentioned. “You think so?” Jamie said sarcastically. He froze and was in a state of disarray. He didn’t want to spook Percy before he could actually take him down or otherwise incapacitate him. Maybe him running wouldn’t be so bad. But, he looked as if he had no intention of backing down.

Percy took another shot at Jamie and he shielded himself and Trevor from the blast. It almost looked like it was going to come through the purple wall of energy but it didn’t. He passed Jamie and looked up and down at Percy. He couldn’t decide if he wanted to go back to time-stop mode again or not. It wasn’t the worst he’d been in. The burning man and the ghoul seemed to take rather precautionary measures but Percy was just a lightning storm with no defensive measures other than his body being covered in electricity, he guessed he didn’t need any. If there was anything he could do it was to divert the blows to Jamie and have him get closer each time he struck. He ran to grab him by the face. He could feel the pulse running through him as he did so. Percy’s face was being torn asunder but he couldn’t hold on much longer, so he let go. Percy grabbed his face in agony and screamed but Trevor just stood fixed on the ground, his arm becoming unusable again. Percy went into a rage. He slammed his fist down but the concrete just had no effect when it came to electrical energy. Then he held his hand out and a screaming bolt of lightning came at him, he waited for it to get oh so close to him, but he dived out of the way as it came. It still got him. He could feel the frying pain of it go through his body and onto his leg where it had first impacted him. He couldn’t stand up this time. Trevor was done for. Jamie was still defending himself and through a blur of twisted vision he could see, Jamie deflecting each attack and it veering off toward the outer regions of the street-way. Percy gave up one last time and let him have everything he had. He couldn’t have picked a worse time to set off one, because Jamie hadn’t pulled up his shield again. He took the full brunt of the shockwave, blinding him and setting him in the prostrated position on the ground. He couldn’t figure  out how to move again so he sat with his head down for the entire time. As Trevor was passing out and possibly dying, Percy was walking away up the street and his shoes and pants were emitting static as he did. The only one to clean up the mess left there that night was Michael and he did a good job of fixing makeshift stretchers and getting them all back inside Nate’s house.

After many days of being unconscious, Jamie was awakened by the sound of a dog’s bark. Trevor was still laid on the living room couch, Jamie in Kyle’s bed for the remainder of the time it took them to heal. Jamie opened his eyes and sat up in a strange bed, then he remembered smoking in here the night he was beaten by Percy. Jamie thought about it and concluded he was still at Nate’s but couldn’t bear to think how long he’d been here. Jamie had a complex about staying at other people’s houses. But, now was not the time to be picky about where he was. It was better this way, not to have to go to the hospital and explain how he’d gotten electrocuted to the brink of death. Trevor was still fast asleep for the third day in a row and wouldn’t wake up until the fifth. He had a heartbeat though. Kyle had checked that and Nate was put in his own bed in the room across from where Trevor lay. He woke up not long after the incident in about two days. Jamie got up out of the bed and looked at the dog across from him, panting and wagging its tail. He said, “Hi puppy.” and moved on to the kitchen to see who was here. Kyle was at work and Nate was still in a hazy condition. Jamie would see if Trevor was fine and then go to his car and leave. Before that, he saw Nate sitting on his bed and drinking out of a whiskey bottle. He couldn’t believe he was still drinking and was on the verge of being drunk. He couldn’t pass the room without staring straight at Nate. He said, “Hey!” and kind of rejoiced because he hadn’t seen Jamie in the past two days, even though they were in the same house. “How’s it goin’ man?” Jamie asked him. “Oh you know, my body feels like all the nerves were severed from it, but other than that I’m fine.”

“That’s a mighty tall order. It feels like my head is spacey but that’s about it.” he said with reluctance. “Yeah, well, you do what you have to do.” he told him. “Ain’t that the truth.”

Jamie was hesitant to leave Trevor lying on the couch, but had to go and see Laurie and see how the rest were doing. “Well, I’m gonna jet.” he told Nate. “Okay. See you some other time.” he responded. Jamie moved to get out of the house when Trevor spoke up from his sleep. “Percy!” he chanted and Jamie looked at him with confusion. He never said who Percy was but one time to him and he didn’t know how to take this or who Percy was in depth besides what he’d seen. He was very quiet during the party but when the ordeal was going on he couldn’t see what was happening to him. It was like he was a mutant with over-powered energy beams that he could control at a whim. He didn’t like the sound of a foe like that and the whole thing left a bad taste in his mouth. He quietly got out of the front door and made his way to the car and zoomed off.

When Trevor woke up three days later, it took him hours to get on his feet. It felt like his tendons were cut to their core and he felt numb all over. It didn’t take long for him to have his balance though and unsteady though he was he had to get to his car and get out. Apparently David, who hadn’t been involved in the incident, was cowering in the house waiting for it all to be over and got a ride from other persons in the party. It wasn’t like he had to put himself in dang but, he didn’t have to skimp out on Trevor either. It was a hopeless case of men in need and he was nowhere to be found. Trevor would pay him a visit at his leisure and have a talk with him. He didn’t need to go anywhere right away and Kyle was there to smoke with him for a while to put him at ease. He had to find Percy again, but first he had to heal up and nicely too. He went into the bathroom and pressed his pale green energy against his skin. It seemed to be working well. There wasn’t a minute to spare because he had to get home and speak to David but first things first he didn’t want anyone to see him healing himself in this way. Even though he was seen that night by Kyle and Michael he wanted to shroud this in secrecy the best he could until he didn’t have to anymore. That was the way things were and liked it just fine.

He got up once he was finished patching himself up from head to toe and got a beer from the fridge. “Where’s Nate?” he asked Kyle. He told him he was in his room and Trevor headed on over. “How’re you feelin’?” he asked him. “Ah, well, I’m good now. Still my movements feel a little sticky if you know what I’m sayin’.”

“Yeah? I thought you’d gone and died on me.” he spoke. “No, no, no. It’ll take more than that to put me down.” he said. “That’s good to hear. I’m gonna get out of here pretty soon.”

“Jamie said the same thing to me when he woke up. Kyle’s been going to work and I’ve been resting up for the past few days. He left you here with your arms crossed on your chest like you were in a coffin for the entire time.”

“That’s disturbing.” Trevor said. “Yeah, no kidding. It even got a bit chilly in here with the AC on full blast. But, I didn’t shiver or anything. I’m surprised you didn’t without a blanket or anything.”

“I got knocked out by Percy in the beginning of the fight.” Trevor lied. He didn’t want Nate to realize what happened if he could stand it and he didn’t already know. “Yeah, it’s weird. He took me down with one blow. That’s a tough mother f’er.” he said censoring himself. “I gotta admit you’re right about that.” Trevor said with distinction in his eyes. “Well, I’m gonna roll. Later.” he put his beer down in Nate’s room and headed out the door. When he got in the car there was red hot sunlight beaming down on him. He couldn’t get away from it no matter what he did. So, he blared the A/C and drove down to where he remembered turning in, or rather what he’d written down on his notepad that helped him. When he made it out of the labyrinth of streets, he felt better being on the highway where he knew where he was. He was gonna have to have a chat with David since he received nothing from him that night. It was odd, why did he hide away and pretend nothing was going on. Is it because there really wasn’t piss in the bottle? Or maybe, he had other things to think about and do. Trevor could think of what that might be. But, there had to be something prohibiting him from coming to fight with him. Jamie had done a good job of holding off Percy when he was attacking. It didn’t man he couldn’t combat as well but his basic skill was meant for defense and he executed it perfectly. Up until he got hit by sheer luck.

Trevor snuck into his house. His Mom asleep in the other room and waited it out until he could get redressed and get into the shower. He didn’t want to explain why he’d been gone for three days and for the time being he was going to get up to David’s and question him.
