AirrationA Chapter by Stephen CaldwellChapter 86: Airration
“What about the park down here.” Trevor pointed to his left sometime before a stop light. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” he said. “It’s dark and secluded. It’ll be the perfect place.” “Okay… if you say so.” he replied sententiously. Trevor waited an unusual amount of time at the stop-light and then hooked around into the pit that was the park parking lot. There were no lamp lights in the area, so when the car-lights went off he could barely see past the lines of the parking spots. “Alright, were here. What did you have in mind?” “I’ve got weed if anybody in here has a light.” Simon blurted. “No, no. We have to get out and group up.” Trevor said. “What is it you’re trying to do?” David said skeptically. “Go to the other side of the park where we won’t be found and get every detail in order and under control.” “Oh, well then.” he responded animated. “Yes, so let’s go.” “Are you sure you’re sure about this?” “I’m sure. Now, hurry up.” “Alright. Everybody out of the car.” David said lowly but also commanding.” “What!? But, it’s cold.” Alex said super apprehensively. It was cold on the November night at an hour and something till midnight. Trevor was determined to do anything possible to be prepared. The rest didn’t seem so thrilled. Of course, if he and David got out they might follow, but probably not. Trevor remembered he didn’t have his coat on. “Could you pass me my coat back there.” he said sternly. An arm reached up and handed him his coat. He didn’t bother to check which it was. Now he needed to get them to leave the shelter of the vehicle. “Are you guys going to come?” he asked. “Yes.” They said in unison. “What? That was easy.” he thought. Alex started snickering. Trevor forgot he could read his mind sometimes. Agitated. Trevor stepped onto the new pavement laid for the parking of this small recreational spot. He waited for the others to catch up to the most experienced pair. Eventually, after minutes of standing in the cold, staring at the thick darkness engulfing, their friends joined them. “Now what? It’s surely not safe practicing out here and even my saliva is freezing.” David said. “So, now what?” “So what?” Trevor snapped. “You’ll be using your powers or attempting to do so. “That’s it?” “Fine.” replied David. He took a stance, raised his arm and shot a blast farther away than any of them could see. The bright, dense energy beam must have hit an elevated piece of ground and burned a whole in it, cause he could see dust in the distance. “How was that?” “Great. Super.” Trevor confirmed. “Now someone else step up. Alex didn’t know how to do anything yet so the obvious one to have at it was Simon. “Do you got this?” Alex asked him. “I’m going to give it a try. How come you aren’t going next?” he asked Trevor. Because my power is close range. But, here.” he flashed dense green energy in his hand and lifted it up. “Okay, very well.” He poised himself and appeared as if he was squinting to attempt to do so and where he was trying to direct his vision. Most likely Trevor expected him to fail on his first try and then lasers screamed from his eyes and sawed a tree in half, causing it to fall from its base and hit another, creating a bridge between them. He somehow retracted what he’d emitted and stood there in amazement of what he’d been good enough to produce on his own. A stroke of luck, maybe, but he seemed capable of doing it. Whatever that said. It was up to Alex. Who’d never been able to previously relinquish anything so far. “So, what do I do?” he asked. “Envisualize a great expulsion of your fears and instinct and let it out.” Simon advised. “Or absorbtion…” Trevor followed rather limply. “Okay… I just…” he looked sort-of constipated and then laxed. Nothing did come about. Alex tried again. “We might be here for a while.” he mentioned to David. Trevor turned around to have a smoke. David started giggling behind him, but he knew to ignore it. Probably laughing at Alex trying to do something he couldn’t. Then trevor felt a burning in his back and fell to the ground. No revolting feelings here. Trevor stood up, he was relatively unharmed. Turning back around. “What was that?” he wondered. David was standing around looking high and mighty. “Why’d you do that?” he asked. “I didn’t do anything.” he told him., grinning fanatically. “Oh, well excuse me. I most certainly fell down on my own with a scorching wound in my back.” “You definitely did.” he hid a laugh behind the purse of his lips. Trevor struck him, but he didn’t fall back. In the blink of an eye something expelled from Alex and everything seemed distinct. Giant flashes of light and hot waves rolled over him. As fast as it came it drew back into a silent atmosphere. “Huh…” Trevor whispered to himself. “I did it!” Alex expressed excitedly. Trevor looked about. David and Simon were getting off the ground. They looked dirty and cold. “What was that?” Trevor asked Alex. “I don’t know, some kind of surge that erupted from out of me.” “Really? That’s interesting.” Trevor didn’t know what to expect from Alex’s unforeseen power. “So, you can pretty much self-destruct without actually destroying yourself?” “Something like that.” “Astounding.” he said. “Should I do it again?” “No. That’ll be enough.” Trevor commended. “Can we get out of here now?” David asked. “Yeah, let’s.” It was incredibly cold and he couldn’t imagine anything better than going home. They piled in and Trevor ran them back one-by-one. © 2016 Stephen Caldwell |
