Chapter 74: The Phoenix

"I knew I smelled the demonic energy coming from you. Both of you perhaps." he said harrowingly. It dawned on Trevor that maybe he didn't have what it took to take this guy on. For twelve seconds they opposed each other, then the bird like creature went in for the kill. Energy still spewing from Trevor's hand, which could only mean that he was hurt in some form or another, or he had no motor function over his power. But, he put up a defense with his hand, praying there was no way that he could get around his exterior frontal blockade. He was knocked flat on his back in the moist dirt. He raised his head up, he had kept it from hitting the ground. He couldn't take many more blows to the head or he wouldn't last. Made it hard to get up though, he wasn't doing anything but staring in the thing in front of him. He found it had some affect on his enemy. It was inspecting the scathe he'd inflicted. "So that's who you are. You can dissemble anything you come in contact with."

"Oh s**t." Trevor scared stiff. He got to his feet when he could manage and ran to the right side. He straddled himself in front of the car and played keep away with him when he found he was being pursued. He took off his shirt. He thought if his upper body was bare, then he wouldn't have a hard time getting picked up into the sky. He was already sweating miraculously in the cold air of the October night. It made him feel light and fleeting, that and because he was terrified. He was jumpy and limber, and strode the other side of the car. All of a sudden, it hopped on top of the car. "He got sick of chasing me around I guess. Where am I going now?" For the exact tick of a tiny hand on the external clock of the universe, Trevor was being pounced on and would soon perish. For the closing of the elapsing of the event, it appeared he was okay. Trevor had ducked on impulse as a last resort. He didn't think it would matter much, but he was unharmed. Just in time it happened Jamie had gotten between them and put up a wall sanctioning Trevor vulnerability and yielding the volley. It wasn't even that. It obviously had some reflecting effect because its wings had flapped back over each other and it was launched over the car and onto the street on the opposite side. He was awestruck. It was impossible to believe that he'd shot that powerful being thirty feet in the air. Though, he didn't have the strength to get up himself, Jamie helped him up and he looked over the vehicle to see it writhing on the concrete. Trevor ran over to it and held his hand over its head. "I've got you now." he said masterfully. "So what're you going to do?"

"I could pick you off of me in a heartbeat, petty human." it said defiantly. "Oh really?" he asked. "Of course I could."

"What are you?" Trevor got to it. "I'm a phoenix, if you have to know." it said. "A phoenix? What does a phoenix do and where do you come from?" he imposed. "I resurrect the right people and not the wrong ones." he said. "As for the latter, I come from the same place your energy comes from."

"hmm... What do you think I should do with you?"

"Do with me? I'm here to vanquish you." It broke up into the air and Trevor flinched from the force. It made a dive for him and he hit the deck. It missed him and crashed into the top of the car. Apparently, they'd wounded it beforehand and it hadn't recovered yet. It fell top-side down on aside the car. Trevor must've had many dents in his car by now, it looked as if a large one had been pushed in from that last wreck. Trevor was getting angry in an unpleasant way. He picked its overpowered chassis up by the neck of his right hand. "Who do you serve, Phoenix?"

"That's not for you to know, human. I'll never tell you."

"Alright then, suit yourself." Trevor destroyed it in a flurry of swirling energy that took nearly everything he had and it disappeared in a state of residual molecules.

He pushed the rest off of him and picked up a single feather and put it in the dash of the car. Jamie got in and looked at him. "What in the world is going on?" he asked. "I'd say we have some things that need to be answered." he told him.. He drove away.
