Chapter 15: The Unsightly

Sometime between discovering the backlash this had and David trying to finish a tub full of beer, and trying to keep his brain in-tact. Trevor didn’t know what to think. His phone went off.  A barrage of texts from Jamie. A whirring from out in the trees almost sequentially and Trevor was officially unaware of what was happening right now. On edge. Jittery and rattled, His suspicions were confirmed. Don strut out of the woods with an unyielding aura of enmity, or at the very least disdain toward the deck. He stopped below the foot of the foundation, and stood. Arms crossed and scowled. It was kind-of strange. It was kind of like he was postured on a reverse-stage. “Hi there, Trevor. I know you’re up there.” He yelled. “Oh f**k.” He kept contained. “Ah! It’s that guy!” David shouted with an unusual dopeyness. This was one time Trevor didn’t feel the need to be a sarcastic minor about things. He was genuinely horrified. “What man!?” he said in a whiny, insolent way. “You did the one thing I didn’t want you to.”

“How was I supposed to know? I was just trying to get you here. This is a bit intense for me right now.”

Don whipped his gaze toward him then the eyes darted back. “Now then, do you know what you’ve done?”

            “No.”

“But, you’ve definitely made a mess now.” He said.  “Like how?”

“Well, I wouldn’t expect you to know what and how. I might have to take some measures.”

            “Can you please explain.”

“For one, this is at best a supplication. A swift action where the remaining parties are going to be addressed subtly, but will receive some kind of signal they are the designated owners. I believe you’ve chosen correctly with this young man.”

            “okay.”

“I also believe you’ll be able to reach them, however, your quick action wasn’t what I was hoping for. You weren’t ready to do that yet. I’m concerned that their directive could disrupt the ordinarity of their being and compromise everything.”

            “What do you mean?”

“That they’re friends and families will find out.”

            “Oh. Well f**k.”

            “Don’t cuss, but yes.”

            “Is there no hope what-so-ever.?”

“No. That isn’t the case. It’ll be tough though.”

“Ah. I can handle tough.”

“Well, good… good luck.” He flashed out of vision. Fled and left Trev and his friend standing there. Part of it was probably the alcohol consuming him quite like this or anyone to distinguish. “I’d imagine you want to go home now?” He tried to convey to David after a few minutes of well-due absorption. “All-in-all I can at least offer a detraction of fear.”

“What does that mean?” David said after a few minutes of standing there. “We’re gonna do this… right?”

“I hope to God so.” He said. Trevor was surprised. “Well that’s a way of putting it. You surprise me more and more yet.”

“haha.” He laughed standardly. “It’s not easy. He’s kind of an arrogant obscurity isn’t  he?”

“The only thing I need is more s**t to tie me up.” He said sarcastically. “Well, tonight, we reel in the annulment.” “That’s a nice word for you champ.” Trevor paused and stuttering over his own unordinary tongue. They turned on an antique radio and put it as loud as it could go.
