Letter to my 10-Year Old SelfA Poem by K. BarriosA little advice to my 10-year old self.Letter To My 10-Year Old Self I’d tell her: They might be gone now But they’ll reunite And when that happens Hold on to those memories tight. I’d tell her: Keep praying because faith can give you strength. You will cross terrains and course of tremendous hardship and length. I’d tell her: You will meet the wrong ones who will feel right at first. Crushes and heartbreaks. Love and also hurt. I’d tell her: Keep your eyes open. There are many fishes in the sea. The one you think you want to stay with forever might not be the one you’d think he’d be. I’d tell her: To keep going to school because it will get hard. You’ll feel like giving up and sometimes you won’t know where to start. I’d tell her: You will feel lonely Like no one’s there You’ll feel like you’re being pulled until you feel your seams tear. I’d tell her: To be open and stay strong because once you close Opening back up takes too long I’d tell her: People will expect you to be an adult but will also treat you like a child. You will grow up too fast. Your mind will run wild. And last but not least: Don’t be so hard on yourself They say “No one is perfect” but that’s not entirely true Because you are someone! You are perfect to you. © 2015 K. BarriosAuthor's Note
