The Wind Blows

The Wind Blows

A Poem by K. Barrios
"

If you have not read Their Eyes Were Watching God then this poem will not make sense at all. This poem describes Janie's journey through her loss of Tea Cake.

"
The wind blows
Talking his name with it
'Tea Cake
     Tea Cake
            Tea Cake.'
The wind blows
Taking my warmth
and strength
Leaving me
A bitter coldness
An emptiness
No sword can sheathe
The wind blows
Leaving the sky open
and free
And for once in my life
I am able to breathe.
It blows
Taking his name
'Tea Cake
      Tea Cake
             Tea Cake.'
