The Wind BlowsA Poem by K. Barrios If you have not read Their Eyes Were Watching God then this poem will not make sense at all. This poem describes Janie's journey through her loss of Tea Cake. The wind blows Talking his name with it 'Tea Cake Tea Cake Tea Cake.' The wind blows Taking my warmth and strength Leaving me A bitter coldness An emptiness No sword can sheathe The wind blows Leaving the sky open and free And for once in my life I am able to breathe. It blows Taking his name 'Tea Cake Tea Cake Tea Cake.'
