A Poem by Ephialtes Jones

watched the show through a knothole

in the sky

saw it all

saw nothing

battered bodies pointed skyward

the beacons of a damned salvation

(god smiled?)

no! it was just gas:

helium and hydrogen in coital slamdance

hold the holy reenactment!

our hearts have gone blind

in the flashes of cameras

our canines found purchase

in the the flesh of wild lust

we'll die for our freedom

we'll die for our sins

we'll die for our appetites

and, d****t!

we'll look sexy doing it!
