Shallow

Shallow

A Poem by Mehak Mushtaq

Do you really not want someone,

to listen silent, keeping your secrets?

Someone, as deep as the ocean,

collecting and keeping the stones.

Never letting any desire, any emotion

over power the obstinacy of never letting go

of any memory and keeping it safe,

pious from every evil intention.

Owning the sacredness of never having been judged,

just heard and kept.

Made divine by never having been told.

An ocean that is plain, still.

Not eager to splendor its tides -

thinking of giving up what it holds,

to earn the bubbles of enjoyment.

It just houses relics.

No difficult for the ocean to be human.

How difficult is it

for a human to hold back the urge of being intoxicated by materialism?

To be an ocean..

This is very beautiful, intimate and full of longing. The phrasing is very well done.

"Owning the sacredness of never having been judged,

just heard and kept."

I love those lines; what a perfect companion: to listen tour heart and never betray it.

Thanks sir. :)
Very difficult it seems, I love that you sourced something so grand as your comparison to materialism, two overwhelming and powerful entities ....nicely pen'd Mehak...

No difficult for the ocean to be human. I tripped over that a teeny bit, I think you meant 'not'...

Great read....
