Letting go of reality.

Letting go of reality.

A Poem by Mehak Mushtaq
"

Happiness is one mirror away.

"
I've been writing on plain pages.
I've been filling emptiness.
I've been creating moments,
I've been re-living memories.
I've been trying to hold the hands
in the images in my mind,
of people who I loved
and of those who loved me.
I've been trying to make my mind
reflect the light of yesterday.
I've been trying to hold the mirror in my eyes at an angle good,
that still shows the pictures as a live album.
I've been trying to hold the tail of the horse,
on whose back time rides and gallops away.
I've been trying to teach the birds,
to teach me to sing.
I've been trying to take the body off,
and fly the soul away.
I've been trying to sharpen the knife
that runs through my chest.
I've been trying to magnetize emotions,
while I always repel.
I've been trying to lift the skies high,
to accommodate more sin - my flight.
I've been trying to pull the moon down
and hang it down my window.
I've been trying to breathe out the reality,
for dreams to sink in.
I've been trying to un-fill my cup of facts,
for thoughts to fill in.
I've been trying to unlit the flames,
for desire to burn again.
I've been trying to author problems,
for my idle brain.
I've been trying making papers,
for my heart to design a new romance.
I've been trying to unlight the candle,
for life to find another way.
I've been trying to replace the painted canvas inside,
with a colorless hue.
I've been trying to refill my brush,
to continue.
July,2013.

wow, amazingly expressive....

I find myself in your words, I felt the breathless air gone by as i read it...
too overwhelming and too emotional in a level that i felt like you've wrote every life everyone has or had...

emotional in many levels my friend...
simply amazing...

This is so intensely captured and crafted...
The language being simple expresses indepth expressions!
The metaphors too work great with it...

Awesome. Loved it. I especially love the meaning I gathered from it. Trying to undo our doings for perhaps a greater good. A fresh start. A different path. Right wrongs. I love the concept of this and its inspired me. Nicely done. Thanks so much for sharing.

Simple amazing. Such deep meaning evaporates from each line written inside the heart, I feel strong emotions here. Keep bleeding ink, your artful words are wondrous.

Thank you for your kind remarks friend.
This is pretty intense. I enjoyed it a lot. And the image of Narcissus was a nice touch...although I didn't get a whole lot of narcissism in this piece. Trust me, I know from narcissism ;-) *laugh* Thanks for sharing this with us.

Quite the chosen path... I wonder the humanity discovered and how the cultural and societal differences impacted.

That's indeed an important question. Thank you.
So many clever clever statements shine through this prose, I do love your approach and style, the intensity of your writing, engages the reader, thoroughly, you think completely beyond the framework of our material world, which is what makes your writing unique, I think. very well done, excellent work!

Well deserved. ;P
Nice use of metaphor...but too much alliteration since you started it from top to bottom.
Anyway, the concept is still great for me.
