Solace

Solace

A Poem by Mehak Mushtaq

In the laps of the forest,
In the deep of the oceans,
where bewilderness rests.
Away from sorrows and fun.
In the heart of the fire,
in the soul of the air.
Places with no trail of tires.
In the tears of the Satan,
And laughter of the sadest.
Hell, where God is no fear.
Where fruits forbidden were eaten.
In the pride of the modest.
In the life of a fallen leaf.
In the insanity of a sage.
In the reason of madness.
In the purpose unknown.
All these places, you need not go searching for,
they reside but inside you.
Nature is an illusion.

Is nature an illusion? Perhaps we must travel to these places in order to truly see inside ourselves. I really do think that nature, illusion as you believe it to be, helps us to slow down and see the world around us. It helps us to see inside ourselves and relish who we are and what we have. This is interesting, but the final line doesn't seem to connect to the title. How is nature being an illusion connect with solace? Perhaps I find some connection with it, but I don't see it overall.

What is real if it is not what our imagination leads us to believe? Beautiful Mehak, did you come up with a title for your book?

Nature is an illusion...an interesting idea. This gives me a bit of a "Matrix" feel...and I've felt this way before. When I was a child, I was convinced that when I wasn't in a room, nothing was happening in that room...that unless I was there the world was in some sort of suspended animation. Thought provoking.

This is so awesome... we all have so many layers we just never seem to touch on them all, instead get into a comfort zone with a couple of the layers.

Intriguing spin on solace...isn't it all an illusion, even what's inside of us if you give into solace. Much food for thought here...
