Birds.

Birds.

A Poem by Mehak Mushtaq

Who encarved these beautiful birds,
and filled their hearts with love?
Who, then fixed in place those wings,
and gave them skies to fly?
The world must have been made for them - heavenly creatures,
always close to their motherland with those exquisite, divine features.
The pilgrims of some destination unknown,
Those birds flying in the sky.
Like those lovers lost in each other's eyes,
waiting for nothing to come
-No matter how close death is,
their journey  to life goes on.
That melodious music must be some kind of victory song,
maybe that's why it marks the arrival of morning.
What do you write in those letters, you post in their claws?
They must have had a peek inside, that's why they're laughing hard.

This is really beautiful. This is a splendid view of birds, and appropriate questions asked of them. Living in an area that has many different type of birds, both that make use of my feeders and the type that are more "wild"...what you ask of them is very beautiful ! I watch soaring type birds riding thermals some afternoons that seem to take them out of sight completely, and one wonders what part of heaven do they live ? Very nice writing .... thank you for sharing.

i like the personification which takes place in this write, giving our feathered friends human characteristics such as laughter. i lived by the ocean most of my life and always thought that the seagulls were laughing at us....the truth is, most species of birds can be traced back to dinosaurs, hence the term "raptor" though they are graceful and beautiful they are also deadly predators. i love this write, i found it very inspiring.
