Noticing

Noticing

A Poem by Ennay

Noticing

In such a short amount of time.

There are quite a few things I’ve noticed about you.

I can hear the smile through your voice.

Knowing it’s often the times that you go silent.

You find excuses to talk to me whenever you can.

As far as texting me while you’re at work, or calling while you’re gaming.

You check the playlist without me telling you.

Seeing if I add any new songs.

You look to see if I’ve written something new.

Reading it before I even get the chance to tell you myself.

Everytime I find myself laughing at something.

You always laugh right after me.

I can sometimes tell when you’re waiting for me to say something.

Sitting silently for a moment before you speak again.

Sometimes you repeat some of the things I say.

Not even realizing it because it comes naturally to your mind.

I wonder if you ever think about things you wish you could say.

But never do, leaving those small moments of silence.

The moments of silence are never uncomfortable though.

It feels “welcoming.”

You seem more focused on me.

Rather than whatever you’re doing on the other side of the phone.

These are just a few of the things I’ve noticed.

But the thing that gave me this idea to begin with.

Was the sound of your laughter.
