Pieces of You

Pieces of You

A Poem by Ennay

Pieces of You

It's not easy.

Is it?

Having to leave it all behind.

Forcing yourself to be the change.

Turning yourself into something different.

Something unlike the rest of your family.

A new name.

A new life.

A new home.

A new family..

Except you’re still working on that last part.

Aren’t you?

Sometimes I wonder.

What if I disappeared from your life.

For a year.

Or maybe two.

What would you do?

How would you change?

Because you don’t need me.

And we both know it.

I’m merely another lesson.
Just a less painful one.

I could collect the pieces of you.

And fit them into a puzzle.

But someone else will find the puzzle of you.

And hang it up on a wall.

Declaring it a work of art.

My point is..

You shouldn’t get attached.

Not to someone like me.

Because in the end.

It isn’t worth it.
